Caring for your infant’s baby acne correctly is one of the most important things you can do as an early care giver. While baby acne is the most common skin problem for infants, it is still painful and irritating for them and you want to relieve that discomfort as much as possible. My extensive experience caring for infants has given me the chance to collaborate some good tips on how best to treat baby acne.
- Don’t use baby creams and oils
If your baby has acne avoid applying creams and oils onto his skin. This can often irritate and make the acne worse by coating the skin and not allowing it to breathe and release toxins naturally.
Don't use over the counter acne cleansers on your baby since baby acne is not understood to be caused by dirt as adult acne. You could make the rash worse and irritate your baby’s soft, delicate skin.
Gently wash your baby’s face with organic, mild baby soap and warm water once a day. This may help to reduce acne symptoms.
Pat your baby’s skin dry instead of rubbing, which can irritate acne and chafe his delicate skin.
- Keep his face dry and clean
Keep your baby’s skin dry by wiping off any milk, saliva and food on the skin around the mouth and on the chest. Baby acne is more prone to develop and spread on wet skin.
Allow your baby’s skin to breathe properly. If his skin is wrapped up tight for long periods of time the acne will often worsen and even spread.
