Check out these tips when you are searching for a rare piece of literature.
Bookstores. Scour your local sellers first – antique stores, secondhand bookstores, etc. – and speak with the owners for tips on finding specific volumes.
Libraries. Talk with the staff, and ask about interlibrary loan at the library. If there is a college or university library nearby, search in the special collections sections.
Search online. Sometimes hard-to-find books are available as an e-book. Search Gutenberg.com, www.ccel.org, www.questia.com, and onlinebooks.library.upenn.edu.
Rare books websites. Certain websites are especially dedicated to rare and used books. Check out www.abebooks.com, www.alibris.com, www.ebay.com, www.baumanrarebooks.com, and www.biblio.com. On www.rarebookroom.org, you can view the actual pages of rare books online.
