Cutting back on your grocery costs can save you a great deal of money each month. Check out these tips for saving on groceries:
Look for the generic brands when buying food products. Check the label to see if they have the same ingredients and nutrition facts as the name brands. Generic or cheaper brands are often on the bottom shelf. Some generic brands do not taste as good as the name-brand products you are used to. Experiment to find the generic brands that taste just as good at a cheaper price.
Most grocery store chains offer club cards that offer discounts on several different products (Vons, Ralphs, Albertson’s etc.). These club cards are usually free of charge and offer buy-one-get-one-free deals among other discounts.
Buying grocery items in bulk can save you a great deal of money. Costco and Sam’s Club are the perfect warehouse stores to buy items in bulk. When buying items in bulk, make sure that they are products that have a long shelf life (cereal, canned soup e.g.).
Search through the grocery store mailers. Clip coupons for the items you normally buy. Many people disregard mailer coupons but they can save you a significant amount of money on your grocery trip.
Saving money on groceries can simply mean only buying items you need. Make a grocery list before going to the store and only buy items on the list. Get something to eat before you go grocery shopping (you will buy more food when you are hungry). Also go shopping by yourself. Your kids will often lobby for products your family doesn’t necessarily need.
