The LSAT, or Law School Admission Test, is the most important factor that law school admissions look at besides your undergraduate GPA when making a decision on your admittance.  The LSAT is considered to be extremely difficult and studying is essential for getting an acceptable score.  Here are some tips on preparing for the LSAT test.

Understand the LSAT

The LSAT's score possibilities range from 120-180.  If you take the test twice law schools use an average of the two scores as your official score.  It is only given 4 times every year. Once in February, once in June, in October once and again in December. You must register at least a month before the test, or you will have to pay a late fee of $62. The test itself cost $123.

Know what is on the LSAT

The LSAT is composed of 5 different sections all based around logic and reading comprehension. Other types of knowledge and writing skills are not tested. There is also a section that is ungraded used to test experimental questions for future exams.  The key to the LSAT is to answer the questions as fast possible.

Purchase an LSAT Study Guide

Studying practice problems from a study guide is the best way to prepare for the LSAT. The key to doing well is to study like you've never studied before.  You can purchase old LSAT exams from Law School Admission Council itself. You can buy a book of 10 old LSATs for $30 on LSAC’s website.

Practice!!!

In any preparation material you will read about the LSAT you see that it says to practice. Practice is the key to success on the LSAT. Use your study guide and practice. Purchase additional practice exams from your local bookstore. Search for more online practice exams. The more you practice the higher your LSAT score will be.  As you practice you get faster and more experienced in solving logic problems.  It is important to time yourself when you are practicing to race yourself and see if you are indeed getting faster.
