Gargle baking soda. If you have access to baking soda, mix a teaspoon full with some water and gargle the mixture for 30 seconds. Baking soda is a natural cleanser and will remove bacteria and food particles from the back of your tongue that cause bad breath.
Munch on citrus. Foods high in citric acid stuch as citrus fruits stimulate saliva. Saliva washes away food particles that remain in your mouth and naturally kills bacteria. The acid in citrus foods also suppresses the activity of bad breath causing enzymes in your mouth.
Pull out the gum stick. Sugar free gum can eliminate bad breath because it helps your mouth produce extra saliva which naturally reduces bad breath. It is important to use sugar free gum because sugar actually promotes the growth of bacteria, which would worsen your bad breath problem. Look for gum that contains the sugar substitute xylitol, since it has also been found to stop the growth of new bacteria in your mouth.
Guzzle water. Since saliva kills bad breath causing bacteria in the mouth it is important to keep your body hydrated and your mouth moist.
