Just about any time can be made a special occasion to celebrate grandmothers. Here are a few gift ideas for Grandma.
Make a scrapbook. Put together a scrapbook documenting her life, or the lives of her children and grandchildren. Have each child and grandchild write a personal note and sign his or her name.
Make her cookies. Remember those cookies that Grandma always had on hand when you went to visit? Next time, give her a batch of your own specialty pastries.
Sew a remembrance quilt. Make a quilt and personalize it with all the names of her grandchildren in calligraphy.
Take her for a night on the town. Drop in at each of her favorite places in town – the opera, the café, the antique store.
Create a photo album. Include pictures of each grandchild, from when they were infants to the age they are at present. You can also use these photos to design a calendar on the computer, or simply order one at www.shutterfly.com/calendars.
Give her something she loves. New needles if she loves to sew or knit; a new novel if she loves to read; gardening gloves if she’s always found outside in the herbage.
Sew/knit her a scarf. Or mittens, or a potholder, or an apron, or a shawl, or indoor slippers.
Give her a spa kit. Include body lotion, hand cream, soothing oils, candles, and perhaps even a cucumber for slicing.
Make her handmade jewelry. String together some pearls, or make a necklace with letter beads that spell B-E-S-T G-R-A-N-D-M-A. Give her a locket bracelet that contains pictures of the grandchildren.
