Dad is often more difficult to buy for than Mom. Check out these ideas to make Dad’s day extra special this year.
Make him his favorite dinner. Does he love meatloaf or pasta, hot dogs or caviar, French cheese or American? Is his favorite dessert baked Alaska or homemade apple pie? Whip up a special supper made up of his choice chow.
Give him a gift certificate to his favorite haunt. This may be the auto shop, Home Depot, the local golf course, or the Olive Garden.
Take him to the golf course – or movie theater. Enjoy one of his favorite activities together. Go hiking, go to the game, or play cards.
Give him a personalized mug. Order a mug with a quote from his favorite movie, or featuring a photo of the kids.
Tool kit. Dads are often the fix-it man of the household; a new tool kit can be quite useful to him.
Duct tape. The man of the house can always find a use for this nearly all-purpose adhesive.
Practical items. Shaving cream, razors, ties, coffee warmers, a new billfold, nice pens, a briefcase, headlamp, sunglasses, socks, and shirts – these other practical gifts are appreciated by dads.
Put together a scrapbook dedicated to him. This can be as simple as a photo album filled with pictures of Dad and the kids enjoying various activities together, with captions listing things they each appreciate about Dad.
Appreciation basket. Put together various accessories in a basket, with each item representing something about Dad. For instance, a hammer representing his carpentry skills, a map representing his passion for travel, and a mini baseball figure representing his love of the game.
