There’s nothing like a well-planned surprise birthday party. Check out these suggestions for unexpected occasions to bring out the cake.
Act like you’ve forgotten their birthday. Invite them to an event under the pretext of something else, or invite them on a ride, then drive them to the party.
Host a jewelry party. This can be advertised as an Avon, Mary Kay, Cookie Lee, etc., party. Just tell the birthday girl a different time than the rest of the invited guests; just before she enters, have everyone hide themselves so that she thinks she is the only guest. Then break out the noisemakers.
Throw a restaurant party. Invite friends to dinner at a restaurant, and have a room reserved for the party. Ask the waiting staff to sing the birthday song, and also for any traditional birthday attire they have on hand – a sombrero at a Mexican restaurant, for instance.
Host it at their favorite place. The restaurant, their house, your house, the skating rink, the park? Invite the birthday guy or girl over to watch a TV show, or meet at a café for coffee; then have the party arrive after you are set up at the house or in town, wherever you are at.
Have them over for dinner, and invite a special guest in their honor. Bring out the birthday cake at the end.
Turn a church event into a party. Bring out the cake and balloons after the prayer meeting or Bible study is concluded.
Transform an office meeting into a festivity. Get in cahoots with the boss and arrange a faux office meeting – then bring out the cake.
