When on a diet and excise plan it is important to lose weight in a safe manner. Losing weight safely means dropping the pounds with out invoking starvation or malnourishment. Follow these tips and lose the excess while maintaining a healthy lifestyle
Do not Yo-Yo diet. Going from normal calorie consumption to very low or no calorie consumption is damaging to your body. You will loose weight initially, but your body will go into a starvation mode and your metabolism will slow. As a result your body basically begins to digest itself, eat away not only fat but muscle and organ tissue. Then when you do start to eat normal quantities of food again, you will gain more weight than you originally started with.
Eat right, small, and more often. Cut your portion sizes down, but eat more frequently throughout the day. You should be having 6 to 8 mini meals throughout a day. Your meals should be low in carbohydrates, low in fat, and high in vitamins and protein. This means lots of egg whites, nuts, fish, chicken, and truck loads of fruits and vegetables. Make sure to get enough calcium in your diet too, so include non-fat milk and non-fat yogurt in your diet as well.
Stay hydrated. Your body needs to stay hydrated in order to properly loose weight and stay healthy. When you don't drink enough water your body retains water and toxins build up in your system. This not only adds water weight around your middle, but pollutes your body causing skin problems, sleep deprivation, weight gain and susceptibility to more diseases. Drink at least 8 eight glasses of water a day (64 oz) to flush out poisons that can build up in your body and to keep your body naturally hydrated.
Exercise in moderation. While exercise is necessary for losing weight and staying healthy, you have to give your body time to rest and repair itself. Generally, high intensity exercise is necessary only 3-4 times a week in order to loose weight. Never work out for more than 6 days in a row. Give your body days off to rest and repair the damage done to muscles while exercising. Working your body to exhaustion weakens rather than strengthens and impairs your ability to function properly and to fight diseases.
