Don't let insomnia get the better of you! Sleeping regularly results in a healthy, thinner and younger looking you. There is no need to struggle to get to sleep every night. Follow these tips on ways to get sleep and snooze for a full 8 hours.
Save the bedroom for sleep. Keep your bedroom reserved for bed-associated activities, such as sleeping and relaxing. Leave work, computer using, phone calls and such activities for other areas of the house. This trains your mind to associate your bed with sleep.
Start winding down early. Don't drink caffeinated beverages or exercise at least 5 hours before bed. Instead, drink a hot cup of herbal tea, such as chamomile or earl grey mixed with steamed milk to relax. Instead of using the computer or watching TV before bed, which can stimulate your mind and body, read a book, magazine or write in your journal to help yourself wind down.
Create prime sleeping conditions. Keep your room around 65 degrees F while sleeping and make sure it is nice and dark before going to bed. Use dark blinds to block out early sunlight from waking you in the morning.
Eat for sleep. Your diet can be the biggest thing that keeps you from sleeping. Don't skip meals and splurge later in the day or eat large meals late at night. Eating large meals stimulates your system instead of calming it before bed. Instead, eat small, frequent meals starting out early in the day.
Vitamins and minerals that are essential for sleep. For better sleep at night make sure to incorporate vitamin B, calcium, zinc, iron and copper in your diet. These vitamins and minerals help to calm your system, regulate and produce the chemicals tryptophan and serotonin in your body which regulate and induce sleep.
