Hiring a professional to fix your gas clothes dryer can be extremely costly. Here are some tips I know on how to fix a gas dryer without hiring help:

The reason for your dryer malfunction may be due to a lack of power. First check the circuit breaker to see if the breaker for the laundry room breaker is tripped. Defective fuses inside the dryer can also cause power malfunction. Locate the fuses and the thermal fuse to see if there are any open contacts in the timer. Both of these can usually be located inside the back cover panel. The lack of power might be caused a dysfunctional door switch operator. Check to see if the switch operator needs to be replaced.
Faulty coils can cause your dryer to not provide enough heat to dry clothes. Inspect the coils, the electric igniter, and the thermal bracket to see if they need to be replaced. Examine the thermostat to see if it is functioning correctly. Also check the volt circuits to make sure they are both on.
Inspect the motor for faulty/worn parts. This includes the idle pulley, rollers, drum bearing, plastic guides, and the blower. A worn drive belt can also be the cause for dryer not being able to tumble. Replace the motor if any of these parts are hindering it from functioning correctly.
A clogged or punctured vent duct hose can cause the dryer to take longer drying clothes. Check the vent duct hose and remove any obstructions (large pieces of lint usually). Patch small/medium size holes with duct tape to make the hose airtight. Replace the hose if the tears are significantly large.
Good websites to check out for dryer parts are: partselect.com, repairclinic.com, and dryerpartsonline.com. It is also a good idea to consult the specific manufacture to find parts or to check for warranty information.
