Unique history and deep cultural roots make Germany a popular tourist attraction. No matter what your interests are, chances are you will find something to do.
Oktoberfest
Oktoberfest

  • Festivals. Germany is known for its numerous festivals. Perhaps the most important one is Oktoberfest. It takes places in Munich at the end of September and always ends on the first Sunday of October. The festival is opened by a Munich mayor who inserts a wooden tap into a beer barrel. Millions of gallons of beer are consumed during the festival. The festival has concerts, parades, roller coasters, games, and many more fun activities. Germany is also known for its wines. Germans consume as much wine as they consume beer. Late summer and early fall are good time to visit hundreds of wine festivals across the country.
  • Museums and architecture. If you like to visit museums or simply look at old buildings, Germany has a variety of historic sites. Church of Our Lady in Dresden, Heidelberg Castle, and Cologne Cathedral and some examples of German heritage. Skyscrapers in Frankfurt or Allianz Arena in Munich are examples of Modern architecture. The Deutsches Museum in Munich is the world largest museum of technology and science. Berlin Museum Island is one of the world’s largest museum complexes in the world.
  • Sport Events. Germans are a very athletic nation. Soccer (actually called football in Germany) is probably the most popular sport. Bundesliga, the highest soccer league in Germany, is in the top five leagues in Europe. Germany also prides itself in motorcycle racing and car racing (like Formula One). If you like skiing, visit one of the many resorts in the Bavarian Alps.
