Traveling between time zones is a pain. However, follow these tips and help prevent that horrible jet lag feeling on your next business trip or vacation.
Before Traveling:
Try to adjust to your destinations time zone before you leave. Slightly adjust your sleep and eating schedule over one to two hours in order to help you adjust before your trip.
While Traveling:
Drink plenty of fluids to keep your body hydrated.
Set your watch to your "new" time zone as soon as your flight begins (however, if you have a layover in another time zone, pay attention to your next flight's departure times. You do not want to miss your next flight because your watch was incorrect!)
Sleep or stay awake like you are already there. Follow the new time zone as soon as you step on the plane.
Get on the destinations eating schedule. Do not eat the food on the plane, as it will be served based on your previous time zone.
After Arriving:
Get out in the sun! Do something as soon as you get there. Take a walk and help your brain adjust to the new time zone. Remain active! Do not take a nap!! This will make you feel worse!
Eat light meals according to your time zone, even if you are not hungry.
